2027 AUSTRALIA TOUR

ITCHY-O

CEREMONIAL THEATRE
40–60-PERFORMER COMPANY • DENVER, COLORADO • UNITED STATES
A temporary ritual architecture of percussion, electronics, masks, movement, symbolic action, and audience integration.

About

ITCHY-O creates large-scale ceremonial performances through percussion, electronics, movement, elaborate costumes, custom instruments, symbolic action, and direct audience incorporation.

The ensemble does not remain confined to the stage. Processions, roaming interventions, and unexpected appearances allow the performance to spread throughout a festival site before converging into the Full Ceremony.

Since 2009, ITCHY-O has appeared with David Byrne & St. Vincent, Beats Antique, and Dan Deacon; shared stages with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, JG Thirlwell, and Chelsea Wolfe; and presented original work at Dark Mofo, Riot Fest, Biennial of the Americas, and Underground Music Showcase.

Presentations can include the Full Ceremony, Mobile Krash interventions, Noise Baths, public-space activations, and site-specific collaborations developed with the presenter.

The Manifestations

Every Australian presentation is anchored by the Full Ceremony. Additional manifestations may be incorporated to activate the festival site before, during, and beyond the headline performance.

Headline Ceremony

Full
Ceremony

The principal expression of the work and the foundation of every touring presentation. More than forty performers combine percussion, electronics, movement, elaborate costumes, custom instruments, symbolic action, and audience incorporation into a singular headline ceremony.

Roaming Intervention

Mobile
Krash

An extension of the work beyond the stage. The full ensemble gathers at designated locations throughout festival grounds, city centres, or public spaces, creating sudden, concentrated performances within the surrounding environment.

Sonic Rite

Noise
Bath

A twelve-member sonic rite for audiences with little interest in Gaia yoga pants, wellness clichés, or inherited spiritual dogma. Designed for museums, galleries, gardens, late-night environments, and what ITCHY-O has deemed Wellness for Weirdos.

Additional manifestations are developed with presenters according to programming goals, site, schedule, production capacity, and budget.
