A message from Sleeping Gian and the Sun-Ray Theatre:

With great trepidation balanced by a healthy amount of concern about public safety, we regretfully announce the cancellation of Sleeping Giant Fest 2020. Our fourth festival was to be marked by the attendance of 45 featured guests flying from six cities, with the goal of producing a memorable and affordable contribution to the cultural landscape of this region. Until these last 48 hours we were hopeful a path toward welcoming guests to a space where we could all enjoy diving deep into a packed out film and live music schedule would be possible but COVID-19 related events have developed rapidly and it is now clear that we can not move forward as scheduled.

All ticketholders are entitled to full refunds of their purchase price and can contact the Sun-Ray Cinema directly to have those processed. We are grateful to those of you who have inquired about converting your ticket purchase to a tax-deductible donation, please let us know if you’d like more information about that as well.

This was not a decision made lightly, as every film and guest programmed for Sleeping Giant represents months — and in some cases years — of hard work and relationship building, as well as the enthusiasm and passion we have for sharing the experience of a great show with the public. We hope either to postpone the events and schedule them separately over the coming months, or perhaps move the whole festival to another weekend and will make those decisions as the situation evolves. We are finding it essential, and perhaps key to our sanity in general, to take each piece of new information as it comes in and respond accordingly and appropriately. We advise you to do the same in the coming weeks and months. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and patronage, we will continue to keep you appraised.
